Last week I somehow managed to make some time to do a pattern test for E + M Patterns. So maybe I left a few dishes in the sink or an entire hamper of laundry, but it was worth it. These pants are absolutely fabulous and are for sizes 2 to 10. They are a straight legged pant, hip pockets, and nice back pockets. My daughter is quick tiny so the flat front was a very nice feature since she is so used to the waists of pants being entirely bunchy.
I used a light navy and white striped linen for a clean and classic look. The pattern has the option for a sweet ruffle on the front pockets. The back pockets can be gathered or pleated. We opted for pleated to keep the look nice and simple. Modern for a tween.
The pattern is perfect for those without a serger (overlock) machine. You can finish your seams using french seams. The pattern is very detailed to help those who are new to french seams. French seams are a great addition to pants so the crotch seam is reinforced for wear and tear. I opted to serge because I love how quick a pattern comes together but I did reinforce the crotch with some stitches on my sewing machine. There are instructions providing info for those using a serger.
Check back tomorrow when I share how these pants also make awesome shorts! In the meantime, how about a GIVEAWAY? The winner will receive a PDF copy of this pattern. Looking to purchase the pattern. It is now available on ETSY & CRAFTSY.
Though I spend my days doing applique and embroidery, I am trying to find the time to dabble in some of my other passions.
